Many in Tallahassee may not know Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church by any other name but the “Pumpkin Patch Church.” In fact, we’ve had the privilege and honor of bearing this name for 26 years! Each fall the yard becomes a sea of orange as thousands of pumpkins appear. Our pumpkins are grown in New Mexico and arrive in semi-trucks, 43,000 pounds at a time!
The Pumpkin Patch at Tallahassee Heights brings a taste of fall to families in the community. Saturdays in October are especially fun as visitors can enjoy pony rides, bouncy rooms, face painting, balloons, special photo areas and music all free of charge. The Patch opens at 10AM on September 28th and October 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th and continues until 3PM. Ponies arrive at 11AM and a concession stand is stocked with soda, water, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, and baked goods for purchase.
The proceeds from each pumpkin support the next year’s patch and more importantly, go to various missions around the world, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Heifer International, our sister church in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Soloman’s Porch, The Shelter, Teen Challenge, Samaritan’s Purse, and A Woman’s Pregnancy Center.
