Amid all the pink, yellow and green heralding spring’s arrival, Friends of Maclay Gardens is seeing a little silver as this year marks its 25th annual Tour of Gardens. The tour takes place on Saturday, May 18. This year’s tour promises to be a showcase of some of Tallahassee’s finest landscapes and features six residential gardens in addition to a unique new community garden space. Most of the gardens are situated in the immediate Tallahassee area and within a short drive from the Park entrance.
The day starts at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast on the lawn at the garden entrance inside beautiful Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. At 10 a.m. those in attendance will receive a booklet containing brief descriptions and directions to the gardens that are being featured on the 2019 Tour. Tour-goers may then proceed on their own self-driven tour of the gardens where docents from the Leon County Master Gardener program will be on hand to answer any questions.
