In the first comprehensive and complete exhibit of its kind, Mysteries Below Ground explores the intricate workings of 25 underground ant nests. This exhibit will reveal the enormous range of size and complexity of ant nest structure and reflects the range of scales in which ants live their lives. The exhibit also dives into Dr. Walter Tschinkel’s method of metal casting and the ways in which metal casting reveals a complete, precise and detailed version of ant nest architecture. Dr. Tschinkel’s casts have been featured in 16 museums around the world, from Paris to Hong Kong, including two casts at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. This exhibit will only be here until June 10, 2018, so don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity.

The Leon County Chapter of Florida A&M University (FAMU) National Alumni Association will host “Igniting Rattlers through Scholarship,” the 12th annual scholarship gala providing financial assistance to FAMU students and athletes Friday, April 27,2018 at the FAMU Grand Ballroom at 7 p.m.

Contributions will go to programs and awards such as the V.L. Elkins Scholarship, awarded to incoming FAMU freshmen from our Leon County Schools and various scholarships and awards to students in the FAMU Summer Band Camp and Athletics.

Tickets are $75 per person or $600 per table. Tables purchased by Saturday, April 7, 2018 will be included in a souvenir program.

On Saturday, April 28th , between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. enjoy a hearty, outdoor meal at our Pioneer Breakfast on the 1880’s-style farmstead. This down-home fundraiser features Register’s freshly grilled sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes and real Bradley’s Country Store grits. The Museum’s Board of Trustees will serve up heaping helpings, along with coffee, juice and milk.
