Compete with other local groups to create a ‘Nightmare at the Museum’ during The Scariest Scene Haunted Trail Build Out Challenge. Up to 15 applicants will be selected to build their scene on the Haunted Trail for the 2018 Halloween Howl. Cash prizes await the 5 scariest scenes! About Halloween Howl

Dates: Friday, October 19, & Saturday, October 20, 2018

Time: 6:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. each night

Halloween Howl is one of the most anticipated Halloween events in the Tallahassee Community. There is something for everyone at this event from the Not So Spooky trail, carnival games, and candy for the little ones, to the Haunted Trail for adults.

About the Haunted Trail

The Haunted Trail is a huge crowd pleaser and takes place on the Museum’s wooded nature loop that runs along Lake Hiawatha. The Haunted Trail opens at 7:15 p.m. when the sun goes down, and has scenes that will scare the socks off older kids and adults including scary clowns, dark passage ways, primitive graveyards, terrifying dolls and more! Over 1200 people experience the Trail each year.

The Frenchtown farmers market will reopen on March 5th at 524 North MLK Blvd. In partnership with the Community Redevelopment Agency, the farmers market represents a first step in plans to develop a local food business incubator on the property.

The project, led by Frenchtown Neighborhood Improvement Association, is an effort to improve opportunity for people of color, women, veterans and students. The goal is to diversify the local economy, both by product and proprietor, in order to create more resilient, engaged, safe and thriving communities.

And what better place to start than Frenchtown.

Opening day will feature live music, guest speakers and host of local vendors with handmade and locally grown products. The Frenchtown market will open every Saturday, from 9am to 1pm throughout the year.

Vendor inquiries from across the Big Bend region are also welcome. The Frenchtown farmers market is the only food retail opportunity in the area with purchase incentive programs that improve families’ ability to purchase fresh food, and also expand the sales potential for market vendors.

Vendor info sessions will be held Wednesday, February 17th @ 12:30pm and Saturday, February 20th at 3:00pm, at the market’s new location, 524 North MLK Blvd. in Tallahassee.

Interested in singing with the internationally acclaimed Tallahassee Community Chorus for our exciting 31st season? Head over to our website and register today! Rehearsals start Monday, August 27th at 7:30 pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church. There’s no audition to join, and no previous experience is required to sing with us. We’d love to have you!

Registration begins at 6:30 PM on the 27th and will continue on September 10th and 17th at 6:30 PM. Rehearsal to follow at 7:30 pm every Monday evening. Registration and rehearsals take place at St. John’s Episcopal Church (corner of N. Monroe & Call Streets), Alfriend Hall (entry via Calhoun Street). No audition required! The Bluebird Run and Walk for Brookie B is NAMI-Tallahassee’s (local affiliate for National Alliance on Mental Illness) annual event to raise awareness for suicide prevention and postvention.

The event has two course options: a 5K run/walk and a 1 mile fun run/walk. The 1m starts at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. at the JR Alford Greenway. This course has been accurately measured to USATF standards and will be timed by Gulf Winds Track Club. Awards will be presented to first three finishers male and female for overall and masters.

Age group awards will be presented to first three finishers male and female in the following categories: 14 and Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.

Miracle Sports Baseball is a program put on by the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA), where people with and without disabilities are encouraged to come out to the Miracle Field at Messer Park and enjoy the sport together. Adaptive equipment provided, such as a tee to bat and a baseball that emits a noise for people with visual impairments! With no winners or losers, the event is all about building confidence through a family-like and encouraging atmosphere.

The event is weekly from September 6 – November 15, children play from 6:00-7:00 pm and adults from 7:00-8:00 pm.
