Led by experienced educators, Camp Challenger campers will get to blast off to space, build and program robots, make movies, explore the sciences, investigate coding through Minecraft and much more! Our STEAM-themed camps feature hands-on activities led by experienced educators. The Challenger Learning Center’s “Camp Challenger” strives to ensure campers have fun in a safe and educational atmosphere. All camps include lunch.

– Fun-filled, interactive program that covers the history of taiko, the music of Japan, and drumming performance.
June 18: Dr. Michael Bakan, World Music
– Expect lots of noise, exciting rhythms, and abundant monkey sounds with the head of FSU’s World Music Ensembles Program.
June 25: African-Caribbean Dance Theatre
– Learn about music and history with this energizing cultural dance and musical ensemble performance.
July 2: Monticello Acting and Dance Co.
– Performing Selections from “The Wizard of Oz.”
July 9: Amazing Animals “Scales & Tails”
– Meet animals face-to-face in this program about alligators and snakes.
July 16: Clyde Chicainery, Magician
– Magic tricks and illusions!
July 23: Royce Lovett, Local Musician
– R&B artist will perform his original songs in a special concert for kids and families.
July 30: Animal Tales “Born to Be Wild”
– Animals from all over the globe demonstrate their unique vocal abilities.

Mysteries Below Ground @ Tallahassee Museum

In the first comprehensive and complete exhibit of its kind, Mysteries Below Ground: The Architecture of Ant Nests explores the intricate workings of 25 underground ant nests. This exhibit will reveal the enormous range of size and complexity of ant nest structure and reflects the range of scales in which ants live their lives. The exhibit also dives into Dr. Walter Tschinkel’s method of metal casting and the ways in which metal casting reveals a complete, precise and detailed version of ant nest architecture. Dr. Tschinkel’s casts have been featured in 16 museums around the world, from Paris to Hong Kong, including two casts at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. This exhibit will only be here until December 31, 2018, so don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity.

Our STEAM-themed camps feature hands-on activities led by experienced educators. The Challenger Learning Center’s “Camp Challenger” strives to ensure campers have fun in a safe and educational atmosphere. At the Challenger Learning Center, campers are guaranteed focused attention with a ratio of at least one educator for every eight children.
Camp counselors, as well as volunteers, are made up of teachers, students pursuing a degree in education, professionals with an extensive science background and/or individuals experienced with child care or best practices in education. The exciting, new themes for the 2018 Summer Camps are: Animation Magic, Techtastic, Minecraft, Challenger Olympiad, Robot League, Livestreaming Studio, Movie Magic, STEAMology, Space Explorers and more.
