Grassroots Summer Camp

“Let summer be summer” –that’s what we say at Grassroots. Many of us remember summer as a time to do what we enjoyed for hours on end. That kind of freedom can be elusive for children now, even when they are on summer vacation. The summer program at Grassroots lets kids choose their activities in a low-key, non-pressured, supportive environment. We have four acres of woods and fields, a theater, library, computers, project area, playgrounds, gardens and more. Our program serves children from age five to eleven (and older if they have been in the program previously).

Progressive Pediatric Summer Escape Camp

Progressive Pediatric – Summer Escape Camp

Summer Escape is a camp for children, and teens with special needs. We offer a fun, social setting for children of all disabilities, and our staff is well trained in providing individualized support systems. Our camp is modeled on a therapeutic approach that uses everyday opportunities to achieve skills in the natural setting.

Safety is our primary focus at all times, and to ensure your child is safe, we have key codes on all doors entering and exiting the building, and also bring all of our exciting visitors to our home site, instead of going out and about! But, this doesn’t stop us from doing all kinds of fun activities! Some of these include: Bounce houses, animal visitors, paint drumming, African tribal drumming, super-hero play with Spider Man, and so much more!

We provide Occupational, Physical, Speech, and Music Therapy onsite. Some strategies we employ within our camp structure include: sensory-based activities, social stories, social-emotional regulation, behavioral management and social-skills training within a Conscious Discipline Framework.

Daily activities include: game time, outside play, weekly water days, music therapy groups, arts & crafts, drumming, sensory/gym room time and MORE! We believe every kid deserves a summer worth remembering, and we will do anything we can to ensure your child comes home smiling, safe, and tired, every single day.

We are a provider for: PLSA, ELC, and APD.

Can someone help me find any daily camps for my son? My husband works part time and we only need a camp 2 days out of the week. Does something like this exist in Tallahassee? I would appreciate your help. Thank you!

    • The TC Team

      Hi Emily,

As far as I know most of the camps are reserved for a week at a time. There are a few camp providers that I would recommend calling though, because they may be able to accommodate, as they provide day camps throughout the year for school breaks and holidays. They are:

      Tallahassee Museum
      Gallop’s Family Center
      Arts AfterSchool

Please let me know if these suggestions don’t lead you to the help you’re looking for and we can try again.

      Thank you!
