The Rainbow Fish, By Marcus Pfister

Over this past weekend I got in to one of my “clean up and organize everything right now” moods.  Among the many things I got carried away with obsessively organizing were my CD’s.  In doing so, I found a bunch that I no longer wanted, mostly that were just copies we had made ourselves.  Instead of ditching the CD’s themselves I decided to let the kids use them for an art craft to make fish, which then turned in to reading The Rainbow Fish and making him, with shiny scales and all.

Almost any unused and unwanted junk can be used by your kids to imagine, create and have fun.  Couple the “junk” with a book and you’ve got an activity complete with learning and all 🙂

The kids also enjoyed this printable coloring page with a scene from The Rainbow Fish.
