This year, the Winter Break from Leon County Schools in Tallahassee begins on December 23rd and continues through January 6th.  Our town has many great camp options for parents looking to keep their kids busy and to let them experience new and fun activities during their break.    Here are a few we know and recommend…


Camp Name: Camp Spark – Igniting Knowledge!

Offered By: MoLab

Dates: Daily sessions of Winter Camp Spark will take place on December 23, 27, 30, and 31, 2013 and January 2, 3, and 6, 2014.

Location: SAIL High School 2006 Jackson Bluff Road, Tallahassee, FL 32304

Cost: $45 per day per camper with discounts for multiple children enrolled.

Description: Camp Spark – Igniting Knowledge! sessions are offered when students in Leon County are on school breaks for the winter holiday, spring break, and throughout the summer. The camp program is offered to 4 year old students through the 8th grade. Daily sessions are provided over the winter and spring breaks. Over the summer, sessions run on a weekly basis. Each day or week long session will offer campers the opportunity to explore science through creative play, experimentation, and inquiry based learning experiences. The sessions present age appropriate curriculum and are designed to provide students with engaging educational activities that are both informative and entertaining. MoLab, Inc.’s camp program makes science fun and links Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts to the real-world. Campers explore the art of discovery!

Description: ARTS will be open for Winter Camp this holiday season!  Drop-ins are welcome, the cost is $47 per day per child.  We are open from 7:30am-6pm during the weeks that school is out.  ARTS will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.  During ARTS Winter Camp your children will enjoy all the classes regularly offered at ARTS in a fun holiday themed atmosphere.  Our camp kids choose from a wide variety of classes such as art, guitar, violin, music, piano, jazz, ballet, hip hop, freeze dance, drama, karate, and sewing with a fun mix of board games, ginger bread house building, pretend play, puzzle making, lego building, and other fun group activities sandwiched in between.  We ask that you send your children with a packed lunch and extra snacks as they are sure to be very active through out the day!

Description: Looking for a camp that’s fun AND educational? Our science-themed camps feature hands-on activities led by experienced educators. Open to students who have completed Kindergarten through 8th grade, our out-of-this-world camps are held during winter break, spring break, teacher planning days and the entire summer. The Challenger Learning Center’s “Camp Challenger” strives to ensure campers have fun in a safe and educational atmosphere. At the Challenger Center, each camp group contains at least one certified teacher. Campers are also guaranteed focused attention with a ratio of at least one adult for every eight children.  Camp counselors, as well as volunteers, are made up of teachers, students pursuing a degree in education, adults with an extensive science background and individuals experienced with child care or educational programs. Additionally, in order to maintain a secure atmosphere, all camp staff undergoes a Level 2 background check and all camp staff are diligent about checking Identification of those dropping off/picking up children.

Description: The Tallahassee Museum’s day camp programs are delivered by fun, experienced teachers and are complete with nature- and/or history-themed activities, crafts and games. Let your child explore the Museum’s beautiful 52-acre grounds, which includes a collection of animals native to Florida, a Discovery Center to inspire imagination, historic buildings that tell the stories of our region, nature trails, and an 1880s farmstead.     Holiday Camp at the Sue

    Join your friends at the Sue McCollum Community Center as we celebrate the Christmas break with our annual Holiday Camp. We’ll have three fun-filled sessions before and after Christmas that will keep your child active and happy. We’ll have Games, Crafts, Cooking projects and Holiday movies from 7:30 am til 5:30 pm every camp day. The camp is for ages 5-12. 5 year olds must be in Kindergarten to participate.

    Session-I, December 23 – $20
    Session-II. December 26-27 – $40
    Session-III, December 30-31 and January 2-3 – $80
