ClayMation @ LeMoyne Arts

This is an 8 week course, meeting on Wednesdays, September 18-November 6, from 3:30-5:00 and is recommended for children ages 9-12
Students will create their own animated clips using the same techniques as animators at Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon, discovering the process of cartoon and character creation, as well as fundamentals of claymation through project-based learning, a both fun and meaningful experience.

What is Stop Motion Animation?
Stop motion animation is a film making technique for making an animation that is captured one frame at a time, with physical objects moved between frames. When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement and makes inanimate objects appear to move on their own.
Some memorable animated movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas , Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Chicken Run are made with this technique. You also see a lot of TV commercials made the same way.

More about Claymation
What is claymation and why use it?
Claymation, another word for “Clay Animation” is any animation done using a character, or characters, created out of clay. It is a very popular form of stop motion animation, especially for educational purposes as well as teaching children and beginners, as it is interesting, easy and cheap comparing to other methods of animating .
The claymation process involves sculpting characters (art), designing sets (industrial arts, drafting), writing (language arts), and computer work (technology).
