Log in to the January Hot Topic and hear Mayor John Dailey describe the pilot project approved by the Tallahassee City Commission to create a behavioral health crisis intervention response unit. Mayor Dailey will be assisted by Jay Reeve, Ph.D., Executive Director of Apalachee Center.

On November 10, 2020, the Tallahassee City Commission approved a contract with Apalachee Center to pilot a TEAM that would consist of a licensed mental health professional, a Tallahassee Fire Department paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Crisis Intervention Team-trained police officer. The TEAM would handle non-violent calls for service (911 calls) where there may be a mental health crisis by providing immediate medical or psychological stabilization as well as assessment, and referral for additional services.
